Triclops Unit
Title:  Triclops Unit
Description:  At the Utah State University library I found a book from 1989 detailing railroad history in that year. Of note was the large sections of the book talking about Union Pacific recieving its first batch of SD-60Ms and how revolutionary they were. Now, 26 years later the SD-60M is no longer revolutionary, working branch lines such as this.

New Power at Logan Utah
Title:  New Power at Logan Utah
Description:  Sheesh, the uploader was broken for a few days; so this is a late picture. Anyway, Union Pacific has switched out one of the two SD-60M units and has now placed UP 1768, an SD-40N on the Logan branch. Here they are parked, idle, on a stub track next to Cafe Sabor (former Logan Station). Although the area is clear of snow in this picture, today when I uploaded the picture all of this place is being slammed in snow.

The Chase Begins
Title:  The Chase Begins
Description:  Yesterday (1/22/2016) Spencer Peterson and Matt Paulson posted on the Utah Rail Enthusiasts Facebook page that UP 7400 was going to be coming from Hinkle Oregon to Roper Yard in Salt Lake City; by way of the Ogden Sub. I set out to catch her at Cache Junction, were I ran across another railfan; Kent Bankhead. The two of us waited; on opposite sides of the track as the southbound train with UP 7400 met with a northbound train at the siding. Here is a photo of the northbound train slowing down to park in the siding.

Power Party
Title:  Power Party
Description:  Several UP units were coupled together in Brigham City. Among them was this particularly interesting SD-40-2; UP 9839. From my understanding when UP gives an SD-40 a number in the 9000 series it is a sign that its as built appearance will soon give way to a SD-40N rebuild. This is the first photo of this SD-40-2 here on RR Picture Archives!
