"PRR Builds & Attracts," Page 14, 1956 |
Description: |
Here is page one of a two-page article entitled "PRR Builds And Attracts New Industries In 1955." It was published originally in the May 1956 issue of "Pennsy" magazine, page 14. Bottom Photo Caption: "Men have started work repairing cars at PRR's huge new Samuel Rea Shop, built at cost of $10 million; when finished this Summer, it will rebuild 50 cars daily." What sems to be two different photos at the bottom of pages 14 and 15 is actually a single, wide-angle shot of the interior of the Pennsylvania Railroad's Samuel Rea Shop in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. This wide-angle photo was taken at the western end of the Shop ~ as evidenced by the battered hoppers and gondolas that will soon be reconditioned, repainted, and returned to active revenue service. |
