Article: AMTRAK EXPRESS SLAMS INTO SEDAN IN EARLY MORNING DOWNTOWN WRECK
No one was injured when an Amtrak passenger train slammed into a car at the Trade Street crossing in downtown Greer early Thursday. Investigating Greer officer Lisa DeShields reported that a 1992 Mitsubishi sedan apparently has become stuck on the tracks shortly before the train arrived at 2:30am. The Amtrak Express, operated by Engineer Scott A. Lynch,41,of Charlotte,NC was unable to stop and slammed into the rear of the car owned by Javier Torres of 1400 East Wade Hampton Blvd.,Greer. The train rushed the car about 300 feet down the tracks before coming to a stop. Police say the Mitsubishi was a total loss. |
