VEPCo Building |
Description: |
This was the first skyscraper in Richmond. So why is it on RRPicturearchives? When it was built it was the headquarters for VEPCo's Trolley system. A trolley station was located on the first floor, and main offices upstairs. Until the 1940s, large lights placed in cauldrons lit up the night sky from the top of the columns near the top of the building. |

Downtown |
Description: |
A storm is moving in quickly. Of note in this picture is the crossing gaurd at the intersection of Railroad Ave. and England St. Traffic has become so dense on the little 2 lane road that these gaurds are needed to assist the many school busses that come through town. You can imagine who has the right of way. They also serve to prevent cars from gridlocking over the railroad, but are only present during the times the school busses are running. |
