Peru Industrial Railway (PIR) |
Description: |
PIR was a separate shortline, owned by the City of Peru. Their only connection was Illinois Railway, and the City leased operations to them. Eventually, IR owner Omnitrax bought the PIR, but it continues to be a separate operating company. The presence today of a Hudson Bay SD50 with OMLX reporting marks on the PIR is typical Omnitrax. These SD50s were a total failure on the Hudson Bay and wound up in Illinois pretty quickly, but the paint is still surprisingly good for as long as its been on. |
