Oddball |
Description: |
GE made a variation on the B23-7 with a full body cab to accomodate train crews, in anticipation of cabooseless trains. This was the BQ 23-7. Only ten were ever sold, all to Seaboard. Heres one of them in mid consist on a northbound just north of Collier yard. |

Five units north |
Description: |
There's a surprise in there too-the 4th unit is a BQ 23-7. The spot I had there at Collier was excellent-nice little pull off to park in, shaded by pines, easy to sit and have a soda and read the paper. The only drawback was that the trains often came on you so fast you could not really set up. The afternoon was not so bad-the parking area was on the west side of the tracks-but the morning was a challenge, as you could not get over to the sun side fast enough. So this is a dark side shot. So it goes. |
