| EL RS3 1051, a little south of 47th Street in Chicago, Illinois on January 9, 1966, photo by Chuck Zeiler. Built in March 1952 (c/n 79669) as DL&W 913, it became EL 1047 after the 1960 merger, CR 5267 after the 1976 merger, and was rebuilt to DeWitt Geep 9930 in May 1979. This particular RS3 shows carbody filters instead of louvers, an improved design to trap dirt and sand particles from being ingested by the prime mover. |
