The NY and Long Branch was jointly operated by PRR and CNJ prior to Conrail. CNJs trains originated from their Jersey City terminal until 1967, when the Aldene plan moved them into Newark Penn Station, with a cross platform transfer from New York connections. Here we see on of them, led by GP40P 4105. Note the crossing gates. They were manually operated at this time. |
