Built in May 1929 by NSC/CP as CP 2 6-seat smoking rooms-buffet-17 seat lounge-8 seat solarium observation RIVER CLARE (total of 15 cars in this Lot), reconfigured in November 1943 to 4 double bedroom-1 compartment (4DB-1C) sleeper buffet lounge solarium observation CAPE CLARE (the lounge and solarium seating was still the same, but with a writing desk added next to the buffet), renamed in August 1945 to CAPE HURD, reassigned and modified in January 1963 as business car #14 (2nd) (1 seat in the solarium removed, lounge seats reduced to 9 with addition of 6 seat dining table, buffet changed to kitchen, bedrooms listed as single occupancy, compartment changed from 2 facing section-sized bench seats to 1 bed/long bench seat and chair, common restroom next to vestibule changed to shower), acquired at unknown date by British Columbia Chapter as the CRAIGFLOWER, now carries the original name of RIVER CLARE, and is listed as a "parlor". Of the other 7, 2 were reassigned to the MofW department (these 2 had been rebuilt to café parlors in 1941) and 5 were scrapped. Scanned with an Epson V550 from an original Kodachrome 35mm slide.
