Wye Switches. Here is the first of three time exposures that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains at the Wye Switches in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, on 18 September 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #8626, an AS-18M built by ALCO in 1956 and rated at 1,800 horsepower. It is pulling an eight-car mixed-cargo freight train from Altoona to Hollidaysburg. The caboose is #477184. This time-exposure was taken from the signal bridge spanning the railroad tracks, facing WYE Tower. Visible are light streaks from the headlight of the passing freight train, as well as the headlights and taillights of cars zooming by on US Route 22 on the right. |
