Tipton. Here is an original photo that I took in Tipton, Pennsylvania, on 11 April 1964. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9531, #9816, and #2514. #9531 is an EF-15 built by GM-EMD in September of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in November of 1965. #9816 is an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in May of 1951, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and retired in February of 1967. #2514 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in October of 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. In this context, they're pulling a 149-car mixed-cargo freight train from Enola to Altoona along with cabin car #477939. |
