One of 25 4-8-4's built by Baldwin in 1943. The first 3 (4500-02) like this one were fitted with oil burners and painted blue and white with red letters proclaiming the duty as pulling the Meteor. The entire class was "dismissed from service" in October, 1956 but this one survives at the Age of Steam Railroad Museum in Dallas, TX. Arthur B. Johnson photo |
