Five Southern Pacific F-units were powering Amtrak train No. 1, the westbound SUNSET, passed the Gibbons Feeds building on their way out of New Orleans Union Passenger Terminal. The image was taken about two months after the inauguration of Amtrak, but could have been taken in the previous decade. The Gibbons Feeds building was a long-time landmark at this location, and was razed soon after this photo was taken. (approximate date) |
