| Tomah Lumber occupies the former site of the Harper Leaf Tobacco Company. The company was located within the Milwaukee Road's shops property east of N. Superior Avenue. The structure dates before 1930, which is when the tobacco company also incorporated the buildings of the Tomah Co-operative Elevator Association Inc. into their complex. The Harper Leaf Tobacco Company steamed, cured and packaged tobacco. The company had a spur coming in from the eastern side of the complex, but has been removed. Tomah Lumber does not use rail service, at least not directly at this location. |
