| Acadiana Railway GP30 3018 had been built in February 1963 as Denver & Rio Grande Western 3018. It was retired on 7 May 1996 and sold by the Union Pacific to Metro East Industries at East St. Louis, Illinois, in 1997. From there, it moved on to Larry's Truck Electric Service in Ohio before February 1998 and then to the Acadiana Railway in December 1998. The Acadiana had LTE repaint it into this green and yellow paint scheme, which was inspired by a former Chicago & North Western GP7 which the railroad had previously purchased from LTE. This was the Acadiana's second GP30; their first one was former Union Pacific 701 which they acquired in 1993. |
