Here comes a pair of BNSF C449W's in Heritage II livery on the point of a westbound general freight. This is in the trench for the new Highway 12 bypass in Long Lake, MN. We are in the easternmost part of town, and the bridge in the background carries the Luce Line over the tracks and new highway here. The Luce is a former Chicago and North Western / Minneapolis and St. Louis line that is now largely a trail. There was an 1888 truss bridge here above the old GN that was carefully removed when the bypass project came through here and is now awaiting reinstallment a mile east of this location over old Highway 12. |
