This Baltimore & Ohio 2-8-2 Mikado #4430 was built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in March of 1921 (serial #54677). It serverd the needs of the B&O well in both freight and passenger service. Late in its life, it was renumbered B&O 418 in 1957 to make room on the roster for the incoming diesels. The loco met the scrapper's torch in Chicago, IL in July of 1959. Specs - Q-4 class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. No exact date in 1945 was given and no photographer was listed. |
