PRR 5999, ES-6, 1964

4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 23 September 1964. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5999, an ES-6 built by GM-EMD in April of 1948 and rated at 600 horsepower. Its Crew is shifting two cars into the Lithcote Plant for processing. The Crew's cabin car is N-5 #5001. Partly hidden are several passenger cars marshalled for reconditioning in the PRR's Passenger Car Shops behind them. Photo taken from the 4th Street Footbridge.
