WE Business Car #1 - Wheeling & Lake Erie

  Contributor's Pick!

Nice color slide by an unknown photographer of the rear vestibule of the Wheeling & Lake Erie business car #1. The drumhead makes it look like it's on an excursion for the Flynn Tire Companies. According to Jerry LaBoda's excellent passenger car roster, the car was orginally built for Chicago & NorthWestern as #400, later renumbered 401. Location is unknown but very well may be Brewster, OH.

Fred Stuckmann General Flynn rebuilt some power, notably an F7A that was painted into an EL scheme and then served on a dinner train in Michigan. The company had acquired other equipment and was calling itself Ohio Railway Supply in Kent Ohio. A couple of their products made their way to CVSR, FLNX 484, an FL9 and FLNX 79896 a caboose still in use there. Also from Flynn is the current CVSR 1105, their dome car. These 3 items were rebuilt somewhere other than Kent. 1/22/2017 8:15:21 AM
