Number 7501 was built in February 1972 as BN SD40-2 6337 ( c/n 5803-13 ), it was renumbered to 6914 and was rebuilt at Livingston, Montana to SD40-2B 7501 in October 1983, eventually becoming BNSF 7198, renumbered to BNSF 301.
