Here is the third of three successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken at the Ivy City Yard in Washington, D.C., c. 1953. Prominent here is the Washington Terminal Company's engine #17, a C-1 (0-8-0) switcher built in the Pennsylvania Railroad's Juniata Erecting & Machine Shop during January of 1927. Visible at the right is an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 electric locomotive; beyond it is the soon-to-be-obsolete Coaling Station. |

Here is an original photo by Douglas C. Jones that was taken at the Ivy City Yard in Washington, D.C., c. 1953. Prominent here are several diesel-electric locomotives belonging to the Richmond, Fredericksburg, & Potomac Railroad; among them are (L to R) engines #1011 and #1010. Both are E-8's built by GM-EMD in August of 1952 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. Visible at the left is an unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 locomotive; beyond it is the soon-to-be-obsolete Coaling Station. |
