Title:  American Steel and Wire No 18
Description:  American Steel and Wire of Worcester, Massachusetts --- No 18 is a 3-foot gauge saddle tanker manufactured by Vulcan in 1917. Old No18 done fairly better than the Boston & Maine caboose displayed at Athol, Massachusetts. No 18 now resides at the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association over in Kent, Connecticut where No 18 was cosmetically restored - more photos of No 18 and the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association are available at the NERAIL photo site

St Louis, Southwestern Railway Long Caboose 2305
Title:  St Louis, Southwestern Railway Long Caboose 2305
Description:  Known as a "Long Caboose" on the Cotton Belt. Probably used for mixed train service. Seen at the Valley Railroad in Essex, Connecticut, 1 July 1987, the 2305 was owned by the Railroad Museum of New England. Received word 10 April 2011, the 2305 will be leaving New England within a couple of months to a new owner. Latest news as of 9 July 2011, the new owner is Mr. Gary Powell. The SSW 2305 is in the process of being prepared for road movement from Old Saybrook, CT to Texas where some say it belongs.

Description:  Owned then by the RMNE. Built 12/63 as UP 912, then AMTK 417. Bought from scrapper in 1986 by the RMNE and restored as NYC 4096 and displayed at the Valley Railroad. Description:  Its a Monday in 1987 on the Valley Railroad, and their using the Railroad Museum of New England's RS3 for that days trains. The 529 was used the day before to jump start the NH/LIRR FA 0401 that the Railroad Museum of New England recently acquired. The o'l girl rolled over and started! Description:  Seen in the old New Haven freight yard at Attleboro, Massachusetts. This train with its 2 Conrail SD40-2's and Amtrak caboose would ply the Amtrak mainline nightly laying fiber optic cables into Boston. A few weeks later it would be stored on the Providence and Worcester Railroad at Valley Falls.

Description:  Part of the Santa Fe F7 conversion project in 1972, done at their Cleburne, Texas shops to convert F units into hood units. 2558 is an early conversion as it retained the rounded F unit's roof and one of the few that did get repainted when sold to new owners.

Description:  Old retaining wall for the Grand Trunk Railroad that was to run from the port at Providence, Rhode Island to Palmer, Massachutetts. Much of the work was done with grades, bridges and retaining walls, but the railroad was never finished once the pricipal promoter died in the Titanic mishap. There's many relics left from the Grand Trunk in the Rhode Island, Massachusetts area.

Description:  Mr. Harrold, Providence and Worcester Railroad Company's President since 1980, passed away unexpectedly on November 22, 2005. He was 73 years old. He began his railroad career in 1960 on the Pennsylvania Railroad. He joined the Providence and Worcester as Chief Engineer when it commenced independent operations on February 3, 1973. Was named General Manager in 1974, and a Director in 1978.
