Chione. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Louisville, Kentucky, on 14 May 1960. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5889, an EP-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1950 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. Looks to me like its crew is in the process of pulling a passenger train out of the Louisville Station. |

Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in St. Louis, Missouri, on 5 December 1960. Prominent here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5889, #5705, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #5889 and #5705 are EP-22's rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #5889 was constructed in April of 1950, while #5705 was built in September of 1952. Looks to me like they're departing the Station with a passenger train destined for Pittsburgh and points East. ("LouisFols"; #26 of 38) |

They're pulling a 43-car mail & express train (with "Railway Express" N-5 cabin car #5010) through the Tyrone Station on its way to Altoona and points West. All were built by GM-EMD. #5789, #5801, and #5889 are EP-22's rated at 2,250 horsepower each; #5789 was built in May of 1952, #5801 in June of 1952, and #5889 in April of 1950. #5844-B is an EP-20 built in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. Engines #5856 and #5867 are EP-20's rated at 2,000 horsepower each; #5856 was built in February of 1948, but #5867 was built in March of 1949. They're pulling a 48-car westbound mail & express train.
